Make your own 3D printed coasters

Make a coaster with a name or a monogram, an icon, a pattern such as rings, honeycomb, waves or stripes, or your own logo from an SVG, PNG or JPG. Choose round, square, hexagon or eight-sided, and add a rim so the glass sits on it and drips stay on the coaster.

The words and the pattern stand on the coaster, so it prints in two colours on a printer with one nozzle and one filament change. Add a holder for the set: it prints with the coaster, sized for how many you make.

Tips for a good print

  • Print coasters flat, face up, with no supports. 0.2 mm layers suit most.
  • PETG copes with hot mugs better than PLA.
  • Glue a cork or felt disc underneath so it does not slide or scratch the table.

Frequently asked questions

What size should a coaster be?

Most mugs and glasses sit well on 90 to 100 mm. A wine glass needs less, a big mug a little more.

Can I put my own logo on it?

Yes. Load an SVG, PNG or JPG. Every colour in it is listed so you can choose the filament for it, or leave it out. A logo with flat colours works best.

Does it need a multi-colour printer?

Not for words and patterns: one filament change does it. A picture with several colours side by side needs an AMS, CFS or MMU.
