Multi-Image Cylinder Lithophane

Wrap 2–4 photos around one lamp, each in its own arc segment

Each photo gets an equal slice of the 360° wrap (e.g. 3 photos = 120° each).

Put several photos on one cylinder lamp

Wrap two to four photos around a single 360-degree lamp, each in its own slice: two photos get half the way round each, three get 120 degrees each, four get 90 degrees. Set the diameter, height and thickness range, align each photo in its crop, and preview the unwrapped strip and the 3D lamp.

It prints as one piece, and a lid or base with an LED hole can be made to fit. For a single photo all the way round, use the curved and cylinder maker. Building and previewing are free and unlimited. Tips for a good print

  • A larger diameter, about 70 to 100 mm, gives each photo a wide enough slice to read well.
  • Choose photos with similar brightness so the lamp glows evenly all the way round.
  • Use 100 % infill, a 0.10 mm layer height (0.08 mm for the finest detail), a slow speed of about 30 to 40 mm/s and the fan at 100 %. Any gap in the infill lets light leak through unevenly. The full table is in the guide.

Frequently asked questions

How many photos can go on one cylinder lithophane?

Two to four. Each gets an equal share of the 360 degrees.

What diameter works best for several photos?

About 70 to 100 mm, so each photo has room. With four photos on a narrow cylinder, each one becomes a thin strip.

Does it need supports?

No. Printed upright, the cylinder wall supports itself.

What infill and layer height should I use?

Use 100 % infill, a 0.10 mm layer height (0.08 mm for the finest detail), a slow speed of about 30 to 40 mm/s and the fan at 100 %. Any gap in the infill lets light leak through unevenly. The full table is in the guide.
