A free image editor for the small fixes that make a big difference to a print: crop, straighten, paint out a distraction, erase to a transparent background, fill, clone, and add text. Load a JPG, PNG, GIF or WebP; large pictures are scaled to 2000 px on the long side, which is more detail than a lithophane can hold.
Save the result as a PNG, which keeps erased areas transparent, and use it in the flat or cylinder lithophane makers or any other generator. Your original picture is never uploaded.
Crop tight to the subject, straighten before you crop, and paint out bright distractions such as a window or lamp behind someone's head. Leave brightness and contrast to the generator page.
